Men's Basketball Has New Years Eve Date With Brown University
The Starting Five
1. Last Non-Conference Test Before Conference Play
UAlbany finishes up non-conference play, before playing its America East Conference schedule, against Brown on New Years Eve (Dec. 31) at SEFCU Arena. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. This is the fourth meeting between the two programs, with the Great Danes taking all three previous meetings.
2. A Career Night
Following a five point game vs. Quinnipiac before Christmas, fifth-year senior Jacob Iati put the team on his back against Navy and scored a career-high 26 points on 6-of-11 shooting from behind the arc. His on-point shooting against Navy launched him up to #2 in the nation in three-point field goal percentage with players tallying 40+ 3FGM at 48.0 percent. The York, Pa. native is tied-for 6th in the nation in 3FGM with 48.
3. More Supporting Cast Emerges
Besides Australians Peter Hooley and Sam Rowley playing well off the bench, junior forward Luke Devlin and redshirt-freshman guard Chris Page put in good minutes for the Great Danes against the Midshipmen to make UAlbany a deeper team. Devlin scored 13 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field and grabbed six rebounds, two of which were key offensive boards. Page, in just his second career game, played in 14 minutes and tallied six points, two assists, two steals, and a block.
4. Team's Tenth Win A Special One
The Great Danes win over Navy was their 10th win of the season and broke the team's previous record of nine non-conference wins before conference play to start the season. The 10-3 start for UAlbany is its best start to start a season in program history.
5. Remains In Mid-Major Top 25
Following the slip to Quinnipiac, UAlbany dropped four spots to 24th in the College Insider Top-25 Mid-Major poll. This is the fourth consecutive week that the Great Danes are ranked in the poll, which is the longest streak of weeks UAlbany has stayed in.
