UAlbany Volleyball Ends Skid With 3-1 Win Over Binghamton
VESTAL, N.Y. -- A pair of double-doubles by Traci Vandegrift and Samantha Brostrom, led UAlbany to a 3-1 win over Binghamton (10-17, AE 7-4) in America East Conference volleyball action on Sunday afternoon. The Great Danes posted set scores of 25-20, 27-25, 25-23, and 25-20 in the win to improve to 11-14 overall, 8-2 in league play.
Brostrom tied a team-high with 18 kills and added 13 digs for UAlbany in the victory. Vandegrift finished with 16 kills, on .385 hitting, and added 11 digs and three blocks. Sara Pope was the other Great Dane with 18 kills, hitting a team-best .455 in the match. Gabby Whitworth continued her strong play at the setter position, finishing with 57 assists and five digs, while Viktoriia Stroilo and Dunja Prgomet added 16 and 13 digs, respectively.
Binghamton's Iva Partaleva led all players with 20 kills, while also recording 12 digs. Grace Vickers totaled 15 kills for the Bearcats, while Alex Roland and Kristin Hovie recorded 14 and 11 kills, respectively. Setter Amanda Dettmann totaled 55 assists and 10 digs, while libero Xiomara Ortiz recorded a match-best 24 digs.
UAlbany will return to action on Friday, hosting Providence at 4 p.m.
