#20 UAlbany Seals Up the Second Seed in the America East Tournament With 1-0 Win Over Vermont

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Daphne Voormolen scored her ninth goal of the season to lead UAlbany to a 1-0 win over Vermont in the America East Conference field hockey regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon. The Great Danes sealed up the second seed in the conference tournament, which will be hosted by New Hampshire next weekend.

After a scoreless first half, Voormolen got UAlbany on the board at 48:24, on a hard shot on a penalty corner. Jessica Longstreth got the assist with the pass out to Voormolen at the top of the circle.

UAlbany outshot Vermont, 31-6, and held a 14-2 advantage in penalty corners. Senior goalkeeper Kristi Troch made four saves in the cage for the Great Danes, while Vermont's Stephanie Zygmunt stopped 18 shots for the Catamounts. Vermont finished up the season with a 1-16 record.

UAlbany (11-7, AE 3-2) will enter the tournament on Friday to take on the third-seeded Maine. It is the sixth time in the last seven years the Great Danes, who are ranked 20th nationally, have been seeded second or better. UAlbany defeated Maine (10-9, AE 2-3), 1-0, last week in the home finale.
