Albany, N.Y.- Junior guard Gerardo Suero was named America East Player of the Year by collegeinsider.com. Suero averaged 20.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two games in the America East Conference tournament. He scored 24 points in the win against New Hampshire in the quarterfinals then 17 points in the loss in the semifinals against Stony Brook.

Gerardo Suero, a Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native, was one of the top America East players, leading all scorers with 21.7 points per game and scored a league-high 20-plus points 20 times. The junior guard was America East Player of the Week four times this season for his outstanding performances in a week. Of Suero's 630 points this season, 201 of them came at the free-throw line which put him third all-time in America East history for made free throws.
