Amber Metoyer joins the Great Danes' coaching staff after two seasons at Oklahoma State University, where she was a graduate assistant as well as strength and conditioning coach, and was in charge of video exchange and community service outreach. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Metoyer served as team captain and was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Defensive Team. She led the Lady Techsters to NCAA Tournaments in 2006 and 2007. A member of the Louisiana Tech track and field team, Metoyer helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back third-place finishes at the WAC outdoor championship, and is the school record holder in the heptathlon.
Metoyer began her collegiate career at the University of Colorado, where she played on a pair of NCAA Sweet 16 teams. She also was a Big 12 Conference track and field championship finalist for the Buffaloes, competing in the discus and shot put. Metoyer earned undergraduate degrees in communications and sociology from Louisiana Tech and has a master's in health and human performance from Oklahoma State. She is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Performance Enhancement Specialist. A native of Boulder, Colo., Metoyer spent time with the WNBA's Houston Comets as well as the DT3-Atlanta All-Star squad.
