Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Chrissy Klepper was named to the America East Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic Team for the second straight season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. She was joined on the team by Rebeeca Lee. Both student-athletes were all-conference second team honorees this season.
Klepper, who earned her first all-conference award this season, is tied for second on the team in scoring, recording three goals and three assists for nine total points. She has netted two game winners, and is second on the squad with 32 shots. Klepper, a communication major who boasts a 3.65 cumulative grade point average, scored the winning goal in the season opener against Sacred Heart and netted the go-ahead tally in the regular-season finale win over Stony Brook.
Lee leads the team on the season with four goals and two assists for 10 points. She has recorded one game-winning goal, and has converted 2-of-3 penalty kicks. In a 5-3 victory over New Hampshire in September, Lee scored two goals, and she netted the game winner in a 1-0 win at UMBC earlier in October. Lee, a native of Selkirk, N.Y., holds a 3.44 GPA in documentary studies.
All-academic squads are based on the number of athletes that participate in a contest at one time. To be nominated for the distinction, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve for their team and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions. In the classroom, student-athletes must have a 3.30 GPA and have completed at least one calendar year at their institution. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.
