ALBANY, N.Y.- University at Albany Director of Athletics Dr. Lee McElroy and head men's basketball coach Will Brown announces Jon Iati as assistant coach and Simon Clement as graduate assistant manager on Monday, September 10.

Iati spent his last five years working with the Quinnipiac Men's Basketball program and the last three years as the director of basketball operations. The York, Pa. native had an illustrious career at UAlbany as a player, he currently sits 19th all-time in career scoring with 1,142 points and was known for his three-point shooting with a career 35.2 percentage (129-for-228).

"It is always exciting when you have the opportunity to hire a former player", said head coach Will Brown on the new addition. "Jon had an excellent playing career for us and was a fan favorite!  He has been on the staff at Quinnipiac the past five years and has been instrumental in the overall success of the program.  Jon has a strong passion and feel for the game.  I am confident that he will have an immediate impact on our program.  Especially in the area of player development.  Our players will enjoy working with him.  I am looking forward to working with Jon and trying to help him achieve all of his goals in this business.  Jon will join former Great Danes player and Director of Basketball Operations Jerrad Knotts on the staff".

Clement, who spent the last two years as a volunteer graduate manager, has been promoted to graduate assistant manager. As a graduate assistant, Clement manages film exchange and is responsible for all video production with respect to individual workouts, practices and games. In addition, he has duties with travel, on-campus recruitment and supervising student managers. He is also the co-director of summer basketball camp.

"Simon is a very loyal and hard-working individual", said Brown on Clement's promotion. "He worked 2 years for us as a Graduate Manager while pursuing his Master's Degree.  He is being elevated to Graduate Assistant as he pursues his PHD.  Simon has an outstanding work ethic and no task is too big or too small for him.  We are very fortunate to have Simon as a member of our staff.  Simon will work closely with Director of Basketball Operations Jerrad Knotts to help our office and program run efficiently and effectively.
