Wilson Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach At North Dakota; Pelletier DBO At LIU-Brooklyn
ALBANY, N.Y.- Two UAlbany Men's Basketball staff members are moving forward in their careers in college basketball. Brent Wilson, previous Great Dane assistant men's basketball coach, has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of North Dakota (member of the Big Sky Conference). Josh Pelletier, previous UAlbany graduate assistant, has accepted the position of Long Island University-Brooklyn Men's Basketball Director of Operations.
I'd like to thank Coach Brown and Dr. McElroy for giving me the opportunity to work for them and represent the University at Albany", said Wilson about moving forward. "I am confident Coach Brown will continue build on past success that the program has become accustom to, and the current group of young men are poised to have a great season".
"I am eager to learn, develop and gain a new perspective while working for Coach Jones as I continue to work toward my goal of being a Head Coach someday.Tina, Camdyn and I will miss many of the people we now consider family in the Capital Region. We are very excited about the next chapter in our lives and are looking forward to joining the UND family".
Wilson served one year as assistant men's basketball coach. He previously was a member of the UAlbany basketball staff as director of operations for two years before being promoted to assistant coach.
Wilson's primary recruiting areas were in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and District of Columbia and have responsibilities with scouting, academic monitoring and on-court instruction.
"I am very excited for Brent (Wilson)", said head coach Will Brown about Wilson's hiring. "This profession is about growth and development and this is a promotion for Brent. He will have an increased role at North Dakota and will be working for a good guy and coach in Brian Jones. Brent was a very good player for our program and has developed in to an excellent young assistant coach. I am confident that Brent will do great things at North Dakota and help the program compete for Big Sky Championships! I wish Brent, Tina, and Camdyn the best of luck moving forward!"
Pelletier served the last two years on the University of Albany men's basketball staff as a graduate assistant and video coordinator.
As a graduate assistant, Pelletier managed film exchange for the Great Danes program and was responsible for all video production with respect to individual workouts, practices and games. In addition, he had travel, on-campus recruitment duties, supervised student managers and was the co-director of summer basketball camp.
"Josh (Pelletier) is a loyal individual who possesses a tireless work ethic," said coach Brown on Pelletier's hiring at LIU. "I have always been impressed with his ability to multi-task. He comes from a basketball family and has always expressed his desire to one day become a D1 Head Coach. I am confident that Josh will have an immediate impact at LIU!"
