UAlbany Baseball Drops Second Straight to #12 Miami, 11-1

Miami, Fla. - Catcher Peter O'Brien went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead Miami to an 11-1 win over Miami in non-conference baseball action on Saturday evening at Alex Rodriguez Park. The Great Danes drop to 0-2 on the season, while Miami improves to 6-0.

                The Great Danes managed five hits on the night, getting single-base hits from five different players. Third baseman Joey Tracy recorded a single and scored UAlbany's lone run of the evening in the fourth inning. Left-hander Sean Lucas went four and two thirds innings for the Great Danes, allowing five earned runs while walking seven and striking out three.

                Matt Dybus and Greg Lutton each made appearances in relief for UAlbany. Dybus entered in the fifth inning, and fanned two, while Lutton came in for the final frame against the Hurricanes, not allowing a hit or a walk while striking out one in three batters faced.

                Miami scored one run in the third before UAlbany tied the game in the fourth. The Hurricanes added four runs in both the fifth and sixth before finishing up scoring in the seventh with two runs crossing home. Designated hitter Tyler Palmer scored two runs and drove in one additional, while second baseman Stephen Perez and right fielder Chantz Mack also came home twice in the game.

                Eric Whaley went six innings for Miami, striking out six opposing batters while allowing one earned run. The Hurricanes used three relievers in the game, with Javi Salas and AJ Salcines striking out one and two opposing batters, respectively.

                UAlbany and Miami will wrap up the three-game series on Sunday, with first pitch slated for 11:30 a.m.
