Desma Colburn will enter her first season with the Great Danes for the 2019 season.

Colburn brings significant experience as both a player and coach to the UAlbany sidelines, most recently serving as an assistant coach at Princeton from 2015-2017.

In the first season at Princeton, the former Oregon State standout helped the Tigers capture the Ivy League Tournament. Colburn also spent nearly a decade in Europe as both a player and assistant coach.

Colburn’s European playing days began with a two-year stint at Voley Murcia in Spain, where she was a two-time captain. She played several years afterwards on top French Teams (USSPA Albi and TFOC Terville in the Fem Pro A), serving as the TFOC Terville team captain.  Colburn also spent time in Germany, where she both played and coached at TSV Ansbach.

Colburn graduated from Oregon State in 2006 with a degree in photography. She was a four-year starter for the Beavers where she is among their program leader in assists. She had a career-high 75 assists in a match against St. Mary's, and 20 digs against Oregon.

Colburn resides in the Capital Region and has two children, Lena and Ethan.
