Ali Harris enters her second season as an assistant coach with the UAlbany field hockey team in 2019. Harris’s main objective is working with the Great Dane’s goalkeepers.
In 2018, Harris guided redshirt junior Melissa Harris to a NFHCA All-America Third Team and All-Region bid. Nealon boasted a nation’s best .813 save percentage in the cage, while her 0.80 save percentage and .762 win percentage ranked third and ninth, respectively. Nealon was also tabbed the 2018 Co-Goalkeeper of the Year after leading the Great Danes to a 6-2 conference record and the America East Regular Season and Tournament title.
Harris came to UAlbany from Cornell, where she was an assistant coach for seven seasons from 2010-14 and 2016-17. Primarily helping the defense, four different Big Red goalkeepers earned All-Ivy honors in her tenure in Ithaca, including Kelly Johnson, the winningest goalkeeper in Cornell history, and Carolyn Horner, a back-to-back First Team player.
In 2009, she was an assistant coach for the Sancta Maria College Catholic School for Girls, previously being a student assistant coach at Lock Haven.
She has also been a coach for the WC Eagles, the goalkeeper coach for East Coast Field Hockey, USFHA Futures, CNY Field Hockey and the Maine-Endwell Summer Field Hockey Camps.
A graduate of Lock Haven in 2009, she played in 35 games, helping the Eagles win two Northeast Conference Tournament titles and four regular season titles. She had a 12-4 record in 18 starts, making the NFHCA National Academic Squad four times.
Harris graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in secondary education with a concentration in social studies. She holds teaching certifications in New York and Pennsylvania.
