Xander Uxley will begin his first season as an assistant coach for the UAlbany baseball program in 2017. He will be the Danes' catching coach along with assisting in the development of the hitters.

Uxley comes to UAlbany after serving a short stint in the fall of 2016 as the hitting coach for Utica College.

From 2014 through 2016, Uxley spent time as the recruiting coordinator at Defiance College. His main responsibilities included on and off campus recruiting, as well as being the team’s hitting and position player’s coach. Over those two years, Uxley oversaw 11 players who received All-HCAC honors along with helping the program break single-season records for hits, RBI’s and triples. In addition, the team achieved over a .300 batting average for the first time since 2001. The program was also able to earn and maintain above a 3.0 GPA during those two years.

Before getting his start in college coaching, Uxley spent two years working for Prep Baseball Report, one of the nation’s largest independent scouting services. There, he was an evaluator and was involved with organizing and running events. He also was a head coach in the Ohio Elite Baseball organization during the summers of 2013-15.

Xander played collegiate ball for Shawnee State University before transferring to Ohio State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology in 2014. After Ohio State, he went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education from Defiance College in May of 2016.
