A member of four America East champion teams, former guard Erin Coughlin has rejoined the Great Danes as the team’s graduate assistant manager starting in the 2016-17 season.
Coughlin was a two-time team captain for the Great Danes, playing from 2012-16 and helping UAlbany win four America East titles and the program’s first ever NCAA Division I Tournament victory this past season. She finished her career ranked fifth in UAlbany history in career three-point field goals with 140 and was one of the team’s primary defensive guards all four years.
“I am really excited to be returning to this team,” said Coughlin. “The past four years playing surpassed any expectations I could have had for college basketball. Although I am unable to play anymore, I could not be any happier about working with the team while continuing my education.”
“I am very excited to have Erin join our coaching staff,” said UAlbany head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee. “As a standout guard, Erin will be a great mentor for our current and incoming student-athletes. Her high energy and positive personality fit in perfectly with our staff, and I look for her to help me continue the high academic and athletic culture that has been built here at UAlbany.”
Coughlin is one of four UAlbany women’s basketball players to be part of four America East titles. She finished her career with 484 points, 169 assists, 151 rebounds and 102 steals.
Coughlin graduated from UAlbany in 2016 with a degree in English, minoring in Spanish.
