WEST POINT, N.Y. -- UAlbany had three players with double-digit digs, but the Great Danes fell to Army, 3-0, in their final match of the West Point Challenge in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday evening at Gillis Field House. The Black Knights posted set scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-19 for the win.
UAlbany was paced by Traci Vandegrift and Dunja Prgomet, with eight kills apiece. Vandegrift also recorded 15 digs, while libero Viktoriia Stroilo led the Great Danes with 21 digs defensively. Prgomet was the third player with double-digit digs, totaling 11. Lorena Marquez handed out 12 assists, while Sofia Furlong recorded seven assists and a team-high four total blocks. While UAlbany out-blocked Army, 6-5, the Black Knights held the Great Danes to just .031 hitting as a team.
Army (7-5) was led by Margaux Jarka with 14 kills and 17 digs, while Megan Wilton totaled 13 kills on .600 hitting. D.J. Phee led all players with 29 digs, while setter Mary Vaccaro finished with 32 assists, nine digs, and seven kills.
UAlbany will return to action on Wednesday, visiting Yale in non-conference action.
