Conor Hughes enters his sixth year as UAlbany’s strength and conditioning coach in 2016, with specific responsibilities in the sports of football and basketball.

Hughes worked as the head strength and conditioning coach at Iona College during the 2010-11 academic year. He was UAlbany’s assistant strength and conditioning coach after serving as a graduate assistant the previous two years.

At UAlbany, Hughes worked with the track & field, women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s soccer programs. He also assisted with the football and men’s basketball teams. Hughes had similar duties as a graduate assistant, plus helped with the renovation of the 7,000-square foot weight room and agility/functional training room.

Previously, Hughes was an intern football strength and conditioning coach at Georgia Southern University. He has worked at the Peak Performance Camp, where he trained elite football and hockey athletes, and USTA Eastern’s Camp.

A four-year offensive lineman at Springfield College, Hughes graduated cum laude with a B.S. in applied exercise science. He recently earned a master’s degree in liberal studies from UAlbany. Hughes is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
