UAlbany Women’s Soccer to Challenge Penn State on Friday, 6:30 p.m. in First-Ever NCAA Tournament Game

ALBANY, N.Y. – The America East champion UAlbany women’s soccer team will battle Big Ten champion Penn State in University Park on Friday, November 13th at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
“It is a fantastic feeling to be going to the Big Dance,” said UAlbany head coach Caitlin Cucchiella. “I am really looking forward to facing a Big Ten opponent and having our team experience what an NCAA playoff game is like.”
UAlbany is playing in its first-ever NCAA Tournament this season after defeating Hartford 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the America East title game. The team has won its last five games to enter the NCAA Tournament at 11-8-1, its winningest season in Division I history. UAlbany finished with a 4-3-1 America East tally.
Penn State, the 1-seed in the East bracket, won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, finishing the regular season at 16-3-2 and 8-2-1 in league play.
The Great Danes are looking to be the first America East team since 2011 to win an NCAA Tournament game.
The winner of this game will take on the victor of St. John’s-Boston University in the second round on Friday, November 20th at a site to be determined.
The Great Danes found out their opponent on the NCAA Selection Show on Monday in front of their supporters at the watch party on Monday afternoon.
