No. 8 Field Hockey Draws No. 11 Boston College in NCAA First Round at UConn
ALBANY, N.Y.- Just hours after winning its fifth America East title, No. 8 University at Albany field hockey (19-2) was picked to face Boston College (12-8) in the NCAA First Round this Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2:00pm. The game will be played at UConn, with the Great Danes designated as the home team.
The Purple & Gold earned the automatic qualifier out of the America East, and will play Boston College for just the second time in program history. The Eagles fell 3-2 to eventual ACC Champion UNC on Friday in the semifinals, but downed Wake Forest with an overtime effort in the quarterfinals.
With a record of 12-8 on the year, the only common opponents between the two are Maryland and UNC. Both teams beat the Terrapins, but lost to the Tar Heels. The winner of Saturday’s match-up faces the victor in the UConn-Louisville game on Sunday, Nov. 15.
The Purple & Gold returns to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 after a historic run in 2014. The Danes made the first all-time Division I appearance in an NCAA Semifinal for any team at UAlbany, downing Maryland and Wake Forest.
