Caitlin Colfer Announces 2014 Women’s Soccer Schedule

ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany head coach Caitlin Colfer has announced the women’s soccer schedule for the 2014 season, including a 10-game home slate.

The Great Danes will play a 19-game regular season schedule, including 10 games at Bob Ford Field, a full-America East slate and six games against New York-based opponents, including crosstown-rival Siena.

The team will start on the road with an exhibition game against Manhattan on Thursday, August 14th.  The season begins with a trip to the West Coast, taking on St. Mary’s in California on Friday, August 22nd at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).

The Great Danes return home to play a trio of in-state rivals, opening at Bob Ford Field against Syracuse on Friday, August 29th.  Then on Sunday, August 31st, UAlbany takes on Siena in a battle of the Capital District.  The homestand concludes on Friday, September 5th as the squad hosts Iona.

The next week sees UAlbany hit the road, taking on Holy Cross on Sunday, September 7th, then Dartmouth on Wednesday, September 10th.

UAlbany returns home for a weekend of non-conference games, hosting Rhode Island on Friday, September 12th, then St. Peter’s on Sunday, September 14th.

Back on the road the squad goes for two games, playing Columbia in New York City on Friday, September 19th, followed by a Sunday, September 21st contest at NCAA-participant Northeastern.  The non-conference slate finishes up with a home game against NJIT on Thursday, September 25th.

America East play begins on Sunday, September 28th with a road game at Hartford.

The next week, UAlbany hosts its first pair of league games.  On Thursday, October 2nd, UAlbany hosts New Hampshire for its first league home of the year, followed by a contest against Vermont on Sunday, October 5th.

UAlbany heads east to take on UMass Lowell on Thursday, October 9th, then heads southwest seven days later to take on Binghamton on Thursday, October 16th.

The regular season home slate concludes with a couple of games against Stony Brook on Sunday, October 19th and Thursday, October 23rd against reigning-America East champion UMBC.

The America East Tournament is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 30th (quarterfinals) and Sunday, November 2nd (semifinals), with the championship game on the weekend of November 8th-9th.
