Lane Named America East Track Performer Of The Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University at Albany women’s track and field athlete junior Brittney Lane has been named the America East Track Performer of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Lane (Greenwich, N.Y.) had an impressive showing at one of the most prestigious meets in the nation. Competing in the Olympic Development Elite Division at the Mt. SAC Relays in California, Lane grabbed a victory in the 10,000 meters with a time of 34:26.47. The junior bested UAlbany’s program record by nearly two and a half minutes and qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Round by posting the 20th best time in the NCAA Division I East Region.

Up next, Lane and the Great Danes will compete in the 119th edition of the Penn Relay Carnival in Philadelphia, Pa., which runs April 25-27. In addition, UAlbany will have athletes contend in the Capital District Classic, hosted by RPI, April 27th.
