CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University at Albany Softball team took home two America East Weekly Accolades on Monday, April 22. Junior Brittany MacFawn was named pitcher of the week for the third time this season while Annie Johnson was tabbed rookie of the week for the second time in 2013. UAlbany (28-10, 11-1 AE) went 7-for-7 this past week and have won 23 of their last 26. They currently hold first place in the America East standings.
MacFawn continued her dominance by going 6-0 in six appearances and recording a miniscule 0.21 ERA. The junior right-handed hurler allowed just one run and 12 hits over 33 innings pitched and a .108 batting average against. MacFawn, who's won eight straight decisions, also struck out 40 hitters.
Johnson hit .750 (9-12) and added three walks for a .833 on-base percentage last week. The freshman outfielder scored five runs, drove-in four and was a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts. She was a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate in a three-game sweep of UMBC this past weekend.
UAlbany will travel to Boston U on Wednesday, April 24, for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s America East Championship game.
