Rachael Burek Garners Player Of The Week Honors For the Second Time

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Another nine-point performance this season by senior attack Rachael Burek garners the America East Player of the Week, which was voted on by the conference office. Burek earned Player of the Week honors when she recorded nine points against the Bryant Bulldogs on Saturday, Mar. 2.

In UAlbany’s lone win last week, Burek torched the Boston University defense with nine points on three goals and six assists en route to a 17-9 win. The Great Danes improved to 2-1 in conference play to move into a tie for second with UMBC.

The senior attack has compiled 54 points this season and is averaging a conference-best 5.40 points per game. She has recorded seven games of five points or more and has extended her consecutive games with a point to nine. The Great Danes are 6-1 when Burek records five points or more in a game. The Rensselaer, N.Y. native’s 139 points has moved her up to 10th all-time at UAlbany. Her 45 career assists currently land her fifth all-time at UAlbany.

The Great Danes will return home following a two-game road trip to host UMBC on Saturday, April 13 at John Fallon Field. The game is set for 1 p.m.
