Santana Leads Men’s Indoor At Terrier Classic

Senior Jonathan Santana led the University at Albany men’s indoor track and field team with two personal-bests Saturday afternoon at the Boston University Terrier Classic.

Santana recorded the fourth-best 200m dash mark in program history with a time of 21.72, good for 13th place. Santana also had a personal-best that ranks third in the record books, running a 48.0 second 400m time, finishing as the runner-up in the event.

Alex Petit-Frere also had a personal-best indoor time in the 400m, finishing fifth in the 147-athlete field. In addition, the time marked the fifth-best in the program’s archives.

John DeLallo led the Great Danes in the 1,000m with an IC4A qualifying time of 2:28.34, placing 12th.

Christopher Buchanan also qualified for the IC4A Championship with a personal-best 4:08.89 mile run.

UAlbany’s 4x400m relay squad, consisting of Taariq Jones, Petit-Frere, Jeremiah Obeng-Agyapong, and Santana, placed fifth out of 56 teams with an IC4A qualifying  time of 3:14.03.

In the field events, Alfonso Scannapieco led UAlbany in the pole vault with a second-place bound of 16-04.75, while Christopher Stephenson took 10th in the high jump with his 6-02.75 mark.

The Great Danes are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the NYC Armory.
