Boston U. Slips Past Men's Soccer, 2-0
BOSTON, Mass. - An early goal by Boston U.'s Parker Powell defeats UAlbany, 2-0, on Saturday, October 20 at Nickerson Field. The Great Danes look to bounce back, on senior day, against Vermont on Wednesday, October 24 at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
UAlbany (5-10, 2-3 America East) goalkeeper Tim Allen recorded four saves on six chances. Boston U. (5-7-4, 2-1-2 America East) goalkeeper Nick Thompson tallied two saves.
The Great Danes had their first opportunity with sophomore forward Brandon Wilson in the 12th minute. However, BU goalkeeper Thompson denied the scoring chance.
The Terriers used a header from Parker, in the 13th minute, to grab the match's first lead. Teammate Anthony Ciccone sent in a cross that found Parker in the box for the 1-0 lead.
At the half, Boston U. led UAlbany in shots, 7-2, and in corner kicks, 2-0.
UAlbany junior defender Christoffer Nisser looked to jump start the Great Dane offense in the 48th minute. Nisser launched a shot but again was denied by BU's Thompson.Then in the 71st minute, the Terrier's Mac McGuire put in the insurance goal. Two quick consecutive passes by Cameron Souri and Carlos Ruiz found McGuire five yards from the net to finish the play.
