Women's Lacrosse Defeats Hartford 23-5

Bouncing back from their latest defeat at Stony Brook last week, the University at Albany women’s lacrosse team won its regular season road finale at Hartford on Saturday, defeating the Hawks 23-5.
UAlbany scored each of the game’s first five goals to take a big lead with 25:21 remaining in the first. Hartford broke the streak with their first goal with 24:03 remaining, before Hailey Carroll scored the next two straight 40 seconds apart. Carroll had scored all four of her goals in the game in the first eight minutes, accounting for four of UAlbany’s first seven scores.
Hartford scored once more in the first half, with 22:14 remaining, before UAlbany went on a 9-0 run to end the first half. The Great Danes led 16-2 at the break, and had outshot the Hawks 24-7.
The second half started with two straight Hartford goals. The Hawks recorded three of the first four scores after the halftime break, cutting the Great Danes’ lead to 17-5 with 21:49 remaining. UAlbany scored each of the next six goals to end the game and win by a final margin of 23-5.
A total of 12 Great Danes found the back of the net, five of whom did so multiple times. Carroll led all scorers with four goals, followed by Kadi Futia, Kathryn Sancilio, and Bridget Simmons with three each. Kyla Zapolski scored twice and had one assist. The UAlbany defense held Hartford to just three shots in the second half.
