Game 1

The Great Danes put on an offensive show in game one, setting season highs for runs (13), hits (17), RBI (12), and homeruns (3).

Katie Falotico finished the day 3-for-5, including a pair of homeruns, and Maranda Jimenez tallied a homerun in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

The Bearcats led by as many as four, 4-0, before an eight-run fifth inning gave the Great Danes a lead they would fail to relinquish. Falotico began the rally with a leadoff solo home run before Jimenez cut the lead in half with an RBI single.

Two batters later Shaye Swiatek’s single plated Amelia Ely as UAlbany took their first lead of the game at 5-4. The final three runs of the rally came from the bat of Falotico who notched her second homer of the inning with a three-run blast over the left field fence.

The Great Danes’ offense continued to rake with a three spot in the sixth inning. Ely and Kelly Barkevich led the way with two and one RBI, respectively, as the squad extended their advantage to 12-5. Alexis Phillips, who pinched hit for Aliyah Wade in the seventh, came around to score on a hit from Sarah Petzold for the final run of the game.

Celeste Verdolivo (11-2) went 4.0 innings with five strikeouts in the win, while Chloe Lewis (3.0 innings) allowed just two hits in relief.

Game 2

Down 4-1 entering the top of the seventh inning, the Great Danes offense scored six unanswered runs to complete the come-from-behind win and take down Binghamton 7-4.

After both teams plated a run in the first inning, the game would remain in a 1-1 deadlock until Binghamton took a three-run lead in the sixth. The Bearcats would score three runs on two hits for a 4-1 lead.

Down to their final three outs the Great Danes began to chip away at the Bearcats lead. Sandwiched between a pair of walks, Alexis Phillips would single to right field before Falotico ripped a base clearing double to knot the score at 4-4. Four batters later, the Great Danes would do damage once more as Kelly Barkevich blasted a three-run homer to give the squad a 7-4 lead.

Chloe Lewis notched her first career win after entering the circle in the sixth inning, while Verdolivo earned the save after retiring all three batters faced in the seventh.

Up Next:  The Great Danes return home for a three-game weekend series against Stony Brook. The two squads will play in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. before concluding the series with a single game Sunday matinee (12 p.m.).
