Short Story: The UAlbany volleyball team increased its win streak to five games with a 3-0 whitewash against Hartford on Friday night at University Gym.
The Great Danes, who are perfect at home so far this season, clinched the series win against the Hawks and have now won 16-consectuive contests against their league opponents. UAlbany owns an 8-1 clip in conference action and sits in second place in the league standings.
Chloe Evering recorded a game-high 13 kills in the match while Nicole Otero and Hartford’s Alex Lucero led the way with 13 digs apiece.
“Credit to Hartford for putting up a strong fight. We didn’t play the way we wanted to and Hartford took advantage of some of our mistakes but on the other side of things we were able to take advantage of their mistakes as well. We are happy to be playing back at home again and are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Dig Pink match on Sunday against Stony Brook."
Andersen Vaughan recorded her fifth straight game with 40-plus assists. She also picked up a game-high three aces.
With 10 kills and 10 digs, Okenwa posted her seventh double-double of the season.
Jenna Bridges and Abby Nash tallied 12 kills apiece to lead all Hartford players.
UAlbany held Hartford to a .153 hitting percentage the match.
UAlbany continues to hold second place in the America East standings.
The Great Danes improve to 4-0 in friendly confines.
UAlbany is 6-3 in three-set matches this season.
