The University at Albany men’s soccer team earned its first shutout victory of the season, defeating #22 Cornell 1-0 in overtime. It was the Great Danes’ final road game and non-conference game of the 2018 regular season.

After the first 45 minutes, neither team found the back of the net. UAlbany came out aggressively in the second half, taking three shots before Cornell took one. With three minutes to go in regulation, UAlbany drew one corner kick and took two shots, to no avail, as the second half ended in a scoreless tie.
UAlbany entered its sixth overtime game of the season, and first since visiting New Hampshire on October 5 where the Danes fell 1-0. This time, UAlbany scored in the 96th minute when Nico Solabarrieta set up Carlos Clark for the game-winner.
The Danes improve to 2-4 in overtime games this season, last winning against another Ivy League team, Harvard, 3-2 on August 31, when Solabarrieta set up Clark for the game-winner in the 99th minute.
