Short Story: The UAlbany volleyball team saw its three-game win streak snapped at Michigan State in its opening match of the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on Friday night. The Great Danes fell in straight sets to the Spartans who improve their win streak to 10 games.
Nicole Otero earned a game-high 13 digs.
Michigan State hit .329 in the match.
Rebecka Poljan recorded seven blocks for Michigan State, contributing to the team’s 16 total blocks in the match.
The Great Danes were held to a .102 hitting percentage in the on the night.
Michigan State’s offense was too much to handle for the Great Danes, as the home team hit .333 and .393 in sets one and three, respectively. The Spartans’ Alyssa Chronowski was the only player to record double-digit kills with 10.
Chloe Evering paced all Great Danes with eight kills and Akuabata Okenwa added eight of her own. Okenwa also picked up two blocks in the match. Kelly Cameron chalked up 23 assists.
Maggie Midgetter blasted three service aces for the home team, while Kelly Cameron, Daniele Tedesco and Charolette Mackin each added one for the Great Danes.
