Short Story: The UAlbany soccer team fell to Buffalo on Sunday, September 2nd at Casey Stadium in Albany, New York.
How It Happened:
Buffalo’s Carrissima Cutrona scored both goals for Buffalo on Sunday, assisted by Kaitlyn Walsh on the first goal (first half) and Katherine Camper on the second (second half).
The Great Danes were quick-moving in the beginning of the second half, putting up two shots on goal in the first two minutes. Mariah Williams took the first shot in the 46th minute which went just wide of the goal. Meghan Cavanaugh took a shot not more than a minute later that went high.
Despite a great effort, the Great Danes fell 2-0 to Buffalo.
Comments From Head Coach Nick Bochette:
"We're obviously disappointed with the loss today to a quality Buffalo team. After falling behind in the first half, I was really pleased with the way our group responded in the second half. We created some fantastic chances early on in the second half and put them under some real pressure. That's the game, however, and in our haste to push for the equalizer, we left ourselves exposed in the back to concede the second goal. Credit to Buffalo for punishing our mistakes and not allowing our pressure to rattle them. We still have a lot of lessons to learn, and we hope to keep progressing through our next five games as we prepare for conference play."
Next: The Great Danes will play at Siena on Thursday, September 6th at 4:00 p.m.
