Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Hofstra

Short Story: The UAlbany volleyball team fell in its final game of the Black Knight Invitational – falling in straight sets to Hoftsra on Saturday afternoon. Outside hitter Kelly Cameron earned the squad’s first double-double of the season notching 19 assists and 12 digs.

Keys Stats:

UAlbany: Kelly Cameron led Albany with 19 assists and 12 digs, while Nicole Otero had 16 digs and Akuabata Okenwa had seven kills. 

Hofstra:  Ivania Ortiz posted six service aces in the contest. Aisha Skinner added 11 kills and eight digs while Luisa Sydlik recorded 32 assists and six digs.

Key Situations:

Hofstra: The Pride held its opponent below a .100 attack percentage as the Pride's defense forced the Great Danes into just a .033 hitting percentage. Doris Bogoje contributed nine kills for the Pride, while Laura Masciullo added seven. 

Back in Action:

The Great Danes will be back in action Friday, September 7 for day one of the FGCU Invitational. UAlbany will play two on Friday – Western Illinois (11 a.m.) and FGCU (7 p.m.) – and one on Saturday – West Virginia (1 p.m.).

  • UAlbany and Hofstra are knotted 2-2 in the all-time series
