A block by Courtney O'Connell helped UAlbany close the gap to two points, 17-15, in set one. The Great Danes would capitalize on an attack error by the Buckeyes before a kill by Grace Cozad would pull her squad to 17-20. Ohio State scored the final five points of the match as the home team won 25-15.
Set two proved to be a rubber match that knotted the score even on 10 different occasions. A late kill by O’Connell would break the 18-18 gridlock and provide the Great Danes with a lead they would fail to relinquish. Danielle Tedesco and Cozad added a pair of kills before Tedesco’s service ace sealed the set for the Great Danes, 25-21.
UAlbany started the set up 2-0. Sandwiched by two Powell kills, Ohio State took the next seven and led 7-2, later going up 17-8. Tatiana Tiangco notched a kill to end the run, then O’Connell would add her sixth kill of the night, but UAlbany could not come closer and was defeated in set three 25-16.
Down 7-1 to begin the fourth game, Akuabata Okenwa buried a couple kills to end the Buckeyes run. Ohio State notched a game-high 16 kills in the final set. A 3-0 run by the home team effectively sealed the set. Ohio State won the set 25-13 to win the match in four.
