ALBANY, N.Y. – Kyle McClancy continues to earn awards for his performance on and off the field, being selected as the 2017-18 America East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
McClancy, the 2017-18 America East Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was chosen as the Male recipient among all male sports in the league.
He is the first UAlbany athlete to be an America East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year since Andy Allstadt in the 2005-06 year, and first Scholar-Athlete of the Year from UAlbany since Nikki Branchini in the 2010-11 year.
The graduated midfielder has racked up numerous awards for academics, including USILA Scholar All-American, America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete and America East Man of the Year, and on the field, being an All-American by the USILA and Inside Lacrosse. He graduated from UAlbany with a 3.87 GPA in business.
On the field, he helped UAlbany reach Championship Weekend for the first time, starting all games in the first midfield. UAlbany won the America East Tournament and earned a program-best 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament. He was an America East All-Conference First Team member for the second straight season.
The 2017-18 America East Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year is Elinor Purrier of New Hampshire.
