Short Story: UAlbany falls at home to Central Connecticut St. despite taking an early lead.
Coach Mueller: “The wind was a factor today for sure, it was a difficult day to score. I thought J.T. threw the ball well for four innings, but he ran into some trouble when we tried to stretch him out. We had limited opportunities to score, and you have to credit Central Connecticut St. They did a good job of limiting us offensively. We’ll just have to pack it up and look forward to Iona tomorrow.”
J.T. Genovese lasted 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with three strikeouts
Connor Takacs lasted 2.1 innings in relief, allowing two hits with one strikeout
UAlbany struck first with one run in the bottom of the first. Patrick Lagravinese hit a leadoff single and stole second two batters later to get in scoring position. Matt Codispoti hit an RBI double down the left field line, driving in Lagravinese from second with two outs.
CCSU took the lead with four runs in the top of the fifth
UAlbany scored once in the bottom of the eighth. With two outs and no one on, Marc Wangenstein hit a single through the left side, and advanced to second on a balk by CCSU’s pitcher. Connor Powers next hit an RBI double to right center, driving in Wangenstein.
UAlbany put a runner on second with one out in the bottom of the ninth but was unable to finish off the rally effort
