BOSTON – For the second consecutive week, the University at Albany baseball team earned a spot in the America East weekly awards. This time, freshman Brad Malm was named America East Rookie of the Week. Malm was joined by Player Russ Olive from UMass Lowell and Pitcher Nick Silva from Maine.

Malm, an infielder from Medford, N.Y., hit .416 with a double, three RBIs, and four runs scored in three games at Seattle University helping the Great Danes take two of three from the Redhawks. Malm hit his first career home run during the series. On the season, Malm is batting .233 with three doubles and three RBIs.

Last week, freshman Ryan Hernandez was named Rookie of the Week, becoming the first Great Dane of the season to win a weekly award.

UAlbany was scheduled to visit Central Connecticut State on Tuesday but the game was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Danes will play a four-game series at Hofstra starting on Saturday, March 17.
