Short Story: UAlbany continues its win streak in Hampton, Virginia after defeating Omaha and Hampton on Saturday, March 10th. The Great Danes are 4-0 in the tournament.
• Kelly Barkevich hit two RBIs in game two against Hampton. • Amelia Ely hit two RBIs against Omaha. • UAlbany scored four runs in the sixth inning against Omaha, giving them the two-run advantage that led to its victory.
UAlbany started off its weekend in Virginia with two wins on Friday, March 9th and followed that up with another two wins on Saturday, March 10th.
The first game of the day was against Omaha. By the third inning, Omaha was ahead by two runs. The Great Danes made a strong effort in the sixth inning and were able to score four runs, sealing the victory. Amelia Ely had two RBIs, while McKenzie Bump and Katie Falotico each had one.
UAlbany and Hampton were tied 1-1 by the end of the first inning in the second game. This tie was broken in the fourth inning when UAlbany scored two runs. Kelly Barkevich hit two RBIs in the game and Donna Conrad hit one. The Great Danes would carry their two-run advantage to the end of the game, defeating Hampton 3-1.
The Great Danes have won all four of the games that they have played so far in the tournament. Beating Hampton in the second game of the tournament brought head coach Chris Cannata her 700th win in her career at UAlbany.
The Great Danes will take the field for the last time at the Blue and White Classic on Sunday, March 11th, where they will again face Omaha at 10:00am
