Short Story: Coming off of a loss against Delaware, UAlbany made a comeback in the second game of the day against Eastern Michigan, ending the game in the sixth inning with an eight run lead.
- Amelia Ely hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth against EMU.
- McKenzie Bump hit a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth against EMU, which ended the game via run-ahead rule.
- McKenzie Bump scored the only run against Delaware off of a single to center field by Katie Falotico.
Despite an RBI from Katie Falotico in the first game, the University at Albany softball team fell to Delaware, 1-5. Falotico singled to center field which allowed McKenzie Bump to score for UAlbany.
The second game of the day against Eastern Michigan started out evenly-matched as the score remained 0-0 through the top of the second inning. The Great Danes scored a run at the bottom of the second on a passed ball that allowed Sarah Petzold to score, giving them the lead that they would maintain for the rest of the game.
At the bottom of the third, Katie Falotico and McKenzie Bump both hit RBI singles, giving the Great Danes a three-point lead.
Amelia Ely hit an RBI double at the bottom of the fourth that allowed Alexis Phillips to score the fourth run. The fifth run was scored by Amelia Ely on a wild pitch. Ely brought her fire to the bottom of the sixth, scoring a two-run home run allowing Alexis Phillips to score once again.
McKenzie Bump ended the game in a UAlbany victory when she hit a two-run RBI down the infield line, bringing Kelly Spear and Alexa Corben to home plate. The game ended at the bottom of the sixth with the Great Danes ahead by eight runs.
The Great Danes will head to Rock Hill, South Carolina to compete in the Winthrop Invitational. They will go up against Morehead State, Winthrop, Sacred Heart, Youngstown State, and Eastern Kentucky. The tournament will take place March 2nd-March 4th.
