How it happened
- UAlbany alumnus and volunteer assistant coach Ricardo Estremera won the Jason DeJoy Memorial 5K in a new course record of 15:30.1 to start the day
- Hannah Reinhardt won the Bobbi Palma Women’s Championship 5K in 17:38.2
- The women’s scoring gap was 61.9 seconds
- Ryan Udvadia won the R.K. Munsey Men’s Championship 8K in a new course record 24:44.0
- Udvadia is the first men’s repeat individual champion since UAlbany’s Paul Lagno in 2010-11

Competing for the first and only time at home this season, the University at Albany cross country program swept the individual titles at the 51st Annual XC Invitational. Hannah Reinhardt crossed the line in the women’s 5K in 17:38.2, and Ryan Udvadia finished the men’s 8K in a new course record 24:44.0.
Udvadia is the first men’s repeat champion at this meet since UAlbany’s own Paul Lagno, who won in 2010 and 2011. Udvadia also broke his own course record of 24:58.1, set in last year’s race.
The day started with the Jason DeJoy Memorial Open/Alumni 5K. UAlbany alumnus and volunteer assistant coach Ricardo Estremera won the race in a new meet record 15:30.1. Also competing from the UAlbany family in the race was Austin Sperl, Joey Somerville, Matthew Gladysz, Evan DeGraw, horizontal jumps coach Nadir Simohamed, and Nichole Anderson.
The women’s championship 5K featured 78 runners from seven teams. Reinhardt’s winning time cleared the field by seven seconds. Behind Reinhardt, Cara Sherman placed fifth in 17:55.8, Águeda Muñoz Marqués finished 10th in 18:20.0, Holly Machabee finished 11th in 18:23.1, and Nira Lovick finished 19th in 18:40.1. The UAlbany tiebreakers were Colleen Maloney, finishing 26th in 19:04.9, and MacKenzie Pierie, finishing 38th in 19:39.9. Also competing for the women was Tiguida Toure, finishing 43rd in 19:49.5, and Kirsten Kaminski, finishing 63rd in 20:47.9.
Sacred Heart took the women’s team title with 37 points thanks to finishing spots of three, four, eight, nine, and 13.
The men’s championship 8K featured 85 runners from the same seven schools. Udvadia won by 13 seconds, and his finishing time ranks 24th all-time across all iterations of the meet. Behind Udvadia, Kyle Gronostaj finished second in 24:57.3, also under Udvadia’s previous course record. Victor Ortiz Rivera placed seventh in 25:43.1, Jake Johnson placed eighth in 25:48.9, and Tyler Ranke rounded out the UAlbany men’s scoreres in ninth in 25:51.0. The UAlbany tiebreakers were Jonathan Gay, finishing 11th in 25:55.2, and Calvin Butlak, finishing 13th in 26:00.4. Also competing for the men was Charlie Ragone, finishing 20th in 26:20.9, Christopher Perillo, finishing 21st in 26:21.8, T.J. Murray, finishing 30th in 26:44.1, and Alec Ambruso, finishing 54th in 27:52.6.
The men’s 27 points comfortably outpaced runner-up St. Francis’ 67 points. The men won the team title for the second consecutive year.
