Short Story: After taking a 1-0 lead in the second half, UAlbany men’s soccer fell 2-1 to #23 New Hampshire, ending a nine-game home winning streak.
Coach Gorman: “I thought it was a hard-fought game between two good teams. We did a lot of things that we wanted to do for a long stretch of the game. After we scored I thought they came into it a little bit more and we made a few uncharacteristic decisions in areas that they were able to punish us for. Now we have to roll up our sleeves and get ready for Saturday night at UMBC.”

The University at Albany men’s soccer team returned home after two straight games on the road to host #23 New Hampshire. The Great Danes fell by a final score of 2-1, snapping a six-game winning streak and nine-game home winning streak.
True to form, the game remained scoreless through the first half. New Hampshire and UAlbany led the America East in scoring defense entering Wednesday night, with three and eight goals allowed this season respectively. The UAlbany defense held New Hampshire to zero shots and zero corner kicks in the first half, earning two of each of their own.
In the second half, Nico Solabarrieta intercepted a New Hampshire defender at the top of the Wildcat box, wresting the ball from his control. After winning possession, Solabarrieta placed the ball past the left side of the New Hampshire goalkeeper to give UAlbany a 1-0 lead in the 66th minute.
New Hampshire responded in the 80th minute to tie the game at one, and then scored once more in the 87th minute to seal the game 2-1.
