COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.Mariah Williams equalized the game with a penalty kick conversion in the 83rd minute, but the UAlbany women’s soccer team fell after Colorado College scored with 75 seconds left for the 2-1 win.

UAlbany (0-2) was down 1-0 after a 15th minute goal by Riley Prillwitz for Colorado College (1-2).  After a long string of chances, UAlbany tied the game with Williams’s goal, but CC got back the lead in the 89th minute on a long range score by Camille Weaver.

Play focused on the midfield in the opening minutes, until in the 7th, when Caroline Kopp fired a long range shot, hitting the crossbar.  The ball remained in play, but was sent away by CC.

Two minutes after UAlbany defended a corner kick, the ball came back towards the box and got away from Chen.  Prillwitz was nearby, got to the ball and scored close range, making it 1-0 CC.

In minute 20, Miranda Badovinac got a pass and sprinted towards the CC back line, firing low between two defenders, with Odom making the save in the middle.

CC placed a free kick into the left side of the box to threaten in the 30th minute.  Chen pushed away the first volley, then CC tried to put it back in, with Savanah Courtney heading the ball away.

Lauren Milliet sent a bullet on the ground on a free kick in the 38th minute.  Sophia Eifler dove towards the right post and kicked the ball away to save the potential goal.

Action picked up in the final minutes as UAlbany got a couple of looks near the box.  Williams sent a long range shot on a counter wide right, then another chance a minute later by Gina Bracamonte just outside the box’s corner was saved by Odom.  CC retained the 1-0 lead at the half.

Vega got a chance deep into the 49th minute, getting a pass at the top of the box.  Vega turned around and shot the ball high above the bar.

UAlbany held on a CC attack in the 53rd minute as CC got a shot towards the right post, with a diving Katie Gowing kicking the ball away.  The resulting corner was sent away by Courtney, leading to a counter attack.  Bracamonte took a long range shot, missing right and high.

60:15 through the game, the match got stopped by a lightning delay.  The delay lasted 54 minutes.  Out of the delay, Badovinac had the first chance from 20 meters away, being saved by Odom.

UAlbany attacked down the left side as Vega won a 50-50 ball outside the box and had a shot blocked, eventually leading to a corner kick.  The corner in the 70th minute went far right and did not get off a shot.

In minute 76, Williams got a free kick chance right outside the box straight away, slamming the CC wall on the kick.  A second chance from Williams went right of the post.

UAlbany got its best chance in the 83rd minute as Eifler was tackled from behind on a race to the box, leading to a penalty kick.  Williams got the call to take the kick and buried the chance in the left post to equalize the game at 1-1.
