EUGENE, Ore. – Clearing 17-2.75, junior pole vaulter Alfonso Scannapieco placed 23rd at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5th. Competing against the nation's best, Scannapieco earned honorable mention All-America honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Earlier this season, the native of Mohegan Lake, N.Y., also cleared 17-2.75 at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, tying for eighth-place among the field of 48. Scannpieco had his best performance of the season and of his career at the IC4A Championships, tying UAlbany's program record with a 17-6.5 clearance.

Ole Miss sophomore Sam Kendricks captured the national title in the men's pole vault Wednesday with his winning clearance of 18-8.2.

Waiting his turn to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, UAlbany sophomore Alexander Bowen will contend in the high jump Friday at 6:20 p.m. ET.
