Bowen Wins High Jump Title At IC4A Championship

RESULTS
PRINCETON, N.J. – Fresh off an America East Conference high jump title, sophomore Alexander Bowen cleared 7' 2.5” to win the same crown at the IC4A Championship Sunday afternoon at Princeton University. Bowen led the University at Albany men's track and field team to a 15th place finish out of 47 scoring teams, as the Great Danes totaled 20 points in the meet. The team title went to Cornell, who accrued 68 points.
Junior Alfonso Scannapieco also had an outstanding performance for UAlbany, placing second in the pole vault with a mark of 17' 6.5”, tying the program record.
With 18 points coming from UAlbany's pair of standout field athletes, the Great Danes garnered the final two points from the 4x100m relay team that placed seventh in the finals with a time of 41.68. The squad consisted of Earnest Waters, Jake Rachiele, Taylor Chaney, and Winston McCormack Jr.
Other highlights of the day included sophomore John DeLallo's 11th place finish in the 1500m run, finishing in 3:53.72, while senior Ethan Clary ran a mark of 9:07.93, finishing in 15th place in the 3000m steeplechase.
In the field, Stephen Crouse came in ninth in the triple jump with a bound of 48' 1.25”, as sophomore Abel Gilet hurled the discus 153' 1.0”, good for 25th overall.
Up next, UAlbany's qualified athletes will compete in the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., May 24-26th.
