Men's Indoor Places 12th Out Of 44 At IC4A Championships

BOSTON – The University at Albany men's indoor track and
field team had a strong showing at the IC4A Championships this weekend in
Boston, Mass., placing 12th out of 44 competing teams. The Great
Danes totaled 23 points in the meet. A dominating UConn squad took the title,
accumulating 104 points.
Sophomore John DeLallo was stellar in the 1,000m run,
earning eight points for UAlbany in second place. He recorded a time of
2:24.63, as just tenths of a second separated the field.
The men's 4x400m relay team posted its
best indoor time in three years, placing fifth and garnering four points for
the Danes. Alex Petit-Frere (48.7), Jonathan Santana (46.7), Taariq Jones
(47.9), and Ryan Small (48.5) shared the legs, as they combined for a time of
3:12.03.
Petit-Frere also earned three points individually for his
team, as he placed sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 48.54.
UAlbany's other relay team competing
Sunday, the distance medley, placed seventh in the finals as Youness Benzaid
(3.02.5), Shane Wagner (51.3), Andrew Pirnie (1.55.11), and Chris Buchanan
(4.12.10) totaled a time of 10:01.23.
In the field, sophomore Alexander Bowen rounded out
UAlbany's point-scorers, placing third in the high jump with a height of
6' 11” (2.11m).
For most of UAlbany's athletes, the IC4A Championships
conclude the indoor track and field season for 2012-13. Qualifying lists for
the NCAA Championships set to take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas, March 8-9,
will be announced Monday. Bowen's season-best high jump mark of 7' 3.25” is on
the border of qualifying, as it ranked 14th entering the weekend.
