DURHAM, N.H. - Freshman midfielder Kit Alexieff scored in the 72nd minute to lift UAlbany over New Hampshire, 3-1, on Sunday, Oct. 14. Freshman Philip Persson led the match with three points, scoring the match's first goal and assisting sophomore Pomare Te Anau's goal in the 82nd minute.

"Today's win was a complete team effort", said head coach Trevor Gorman on UAlbany's second conference win. "Winning conference road games is always difficult, and our players fought hard for 90 minutes. We are hopeful to continue to improve heading in to the coming week".

Right as the first half was about to end, UAlbany (4-9, 2-2 America East) lit up the scoreboard first in the 43rd minute. Freshman midfielder Phil Denara began the play with a pass to teammate Persson. The Norrkoping, Sweden midfielder would dribble the ball into goalkeeper box and sent a shot past Wildcat goalkeeper Tim Worra. The Great Danes led 1-0 off of Persson's goal.

The Great Danes came back in the second half with more offense. In the 72nd minute, freshman midfielder Anthony Rozzano sent a pass wide to Alexieff. Alexieff hit a hopeful ball into the box that looped over Worra's head and found the back of the net.

New Hampshire (5-5-3, 1-2-1 America East) cut the deficit to one, 2-1, in the 73rd minute. Midfielder Robert Palumbo sent a cross to forward Ugo Uche. Uche struck the ball hard enough to hit underneath the cross bar and cross the goal line.

Then in the 82nd minute, UAlbany's Te Anau put the match away with a well-struck shot that hit top shelf.

New Hampshire held the advantage in both shots, 18-9, and in corner kicks, 12-0, for the match.

UAlbany goalkeeper Tim Allen recorded his fourth win with eight saves on nine chances. UNH goalkeeper Worra made two saves on five chances in the Wildcat loss.

The Great Danes take their two-match win streak against non-conference opponent, Hartwick, on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
