Lopano opened the season at the Shamrock Invitational, where she placed eighth in the hammer in 155’-7” and 12th in the discus in 130’-2”. After competing in the same two events at the Raleigh Relays, Lopano placed third in the discus in 131’-1” at Connecticut’s Northeast Challenge. At UAlbany’s Spring Classic, Lopano won the hammer in a personal-best 165’-8”, and placed second in the discus in 134’. She placed second in both the hammer and the discus at the Capital District Classic, where she improved her personal-best in the hammer to 166’-8”. At the America East Outdoor Championships, Lopano placed third in the discus in a personal-best 169’-8”, and third in the discus in 131’-8”. At UAlbany’s Purple & Gold Last Chance Meet, Lopano set two personal-best marks, placing second in the discus in 146’-7” and third in the hammer in 169’-11”. Lopano ended her season at ECAC Outdoor Championships, where she placed 11th in the hammer in a personal-best 177’-5”, and 22nd in the discus in 132’-10”. Lopano ended up setting a personal-best in the hammer throw in five consecutive meets.

Lopano was elected team captain before the indoor season. She competed exclusively in the weight throw. Her first meet was Penn State’s Nittany Lion Challenge, where she placed 12th in 52’-6”, setting a new personal-best. She placed fourth at Cornell’s Upstate Challenge in 52’-2.5”. After placing 27th at the Armory Track Invitational, Lopano placed fifth at Boston University’s Valentine Invitational in a new personal-best of 55’-6.5”. At the America East Indoor Championships, Lopano placed fourth in 53’-4.5”. She closed out the season at ECAC Indoor Championships, where she placed 10th in 53’-10.5”.

Lopano opened the season at the Spring Break Classic, where she placed seventh in the discus in 124’-4” and 10th in the hammer in 145’-10”. At the Texas State Bobcat Invitational, she placed 15th in the hammer in 148’-3” and 30th in the discus in 119’-9”. In the home dual meet against Colgate, Lopano won the hammer in 135’-7” and placed second in the discus in 124’-5”. At the Upstate Classic, she won the discus in 131’-6” and placed second in the hammer in 156’-7”. At UAlbany’s Spring Classic, Lopano won the hammer in 152’-9’ and placed third in the discus in 119’-8”. Lopano set a season-best in the hammer at Penn Relays, where she placed 20th in the college division. At the America East Outdoor Championships, Lopano placed second in the discus in 136’-8” and fifth in the hammer in 156’-6”. She won both the hammer and the discus at UAlbany’s Purple & Gold Last Chance Meet recording marks of 155’-2” and 142’-4” respectively. Her discus mark was a season-best. Lopano’s season ended at ECAC Outdoor Championships, where she placed 16th in the discus in 138’-6”.

Lopano competed exclusively in the weight throw during the indoor season. She opened at the Penn State Indoor Relays, where she placed seventh in 47’-6.5”. She placed sixth at UAlbany’s Great Dane Classic in 47’-4.25”. She placed second at Cornell’s Upstate Challenge in 48’-8.75”. At the Columbia Invitational, Lopano placed seventh in 49’-11”. After placing 29th at the Collegiate Invitational, Lopano placed third at the America East Indoor Championships, recording a season-best mark of 51’-9.25”.

Lopano opened the season at the home dual meet against Connecticut, where she placed third in the discus in 129’-9” and eighth in the hammer in 127’-5”. At the Upstate Classic, she placed second in the discus in 125’-8” and sixth in the hammer in 128’-7”. She placed 15th in the discus in 118’-11” at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Invitational. Lopano next competed at the Penn Relays, where she placed 27th in the college division of the discus with a mark of 121’-6”. After placing third and seventh in the discus and the hammer respectively at the Capital District Classic, Lopano ended her season at the America East Outdoor Championships, where she placed third in the discus in 132’ and 10th in the hammer in 131’-11”. Both marks were season-bests.

Lopano competed exclusively in the weight throw during the indoor season. She opened at the Army Crowell Open, placing 12th in 37’-7.75”. She next placed 11th at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge in 37’-1.75”. She placed 20th at UAlbany’s Great Dane Classic in 40’-2”. After placing 35th at Boston University’s Terrier Classic, Lopano ended the season placing 10th at the America East Indoor Championships with a season-best mark of 43’-4.5”.

Lopano was a four-year letter winner at Croton Harmon, where she served as team captain for three years. In 2012, she placed third in the Division II discus throw at New York State Championships. She was a four-time North Country New First-Team discus selection, a four-time All-Section I Class B discus selection, and was named team MVP in 2010. Additionally, she holds a school record in the 4x100 relay, and lettered three years in soccer.

Personal:
Lauren Lopano is the daughter of George and Deborah Lopano. She has one brother, George. Two of her cousins, Carrie and Allison Ennis, graduated UAlbany in the class of ‘97 and ‘98 respectively.
