Seven Great Danes Earned A Spot On An America East All-Conference Squad

Cambridge, Mass.- Sophomore midfielder Ariana Parker and senior defenseman Jenn Primeau were among seven Great Danes to be selected to America East All-Conference Women's Lacrosse Teams, which were voted on among the other six conference coaches. Parker and Primeau headlined UAlbany as first-team selections, which was their first time of their respective careers.

Following their fellow first-team Great Dane honorees, junior attackmen Jess Antelmi and Rachael Burek along with senior defenseman Stephanie Kempf were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Both freshmen midfielders Nicole Eamer and Lexi Brannigan were unanimously voted to the All-Rookie Team.

Antelmi, Burek, senior attackman Amanda Pollock and senior defenseman Mel Rorie were four of 12 America East players named to the All-Academic Team. For Rorie and Burek, this was the second consecutive year both were named to the squad.

Parker, a Port Ewen, N.Y. native, led the Great Dane offense in scoring with 35 goals and would help in leading the offensive group to a conference-low 10 turnovers per game. Senior defender Primeau helped the UAlbany defense in holding opponents to the conference's second-best mark in allowing just 9.87 goals per game.

In just her first season on the offensive end after two seasons on the defensive side, Antelmi helped generate a Great Dane offense with a team-best 48 points (25 goals, 23 assists). The junior attack/mid assists (23) was fifth-best in the conference and her point total (48) was ninth-best. Besides her success on the field, she was recognized with her excellence off the field with a selection to the All-Academic team with a 3.31 GPA in mathematics.

Burek, the team's second-leading scorer, not only helped out with 30 goals on the season but added to her academic resume with her second consecutive year on the America East All-Academic squad with a 3.49 GPA in accounting. Kempf, another defensive anchoring for the Great Danes, helped out with 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers on the season.

Both Eamer and Brannigan helped generate, in the midfield, 32 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers en route to their selections on the All-Rookie team.

The Great Danes look ahead to their semifinal matchup against Boston U. on Thursday, May 3 at Nickerson Field (1 pm).
