Albany, N.Y. -
Vice President and Director of Athletics Lee McElroy, along with
several head coaches and student-athletes, gathered in the SEFCU Arena
Hall of Fame Room on Tuesday morning to celebrate the spring athletic
teams and their successes so far in 2012.
Among
those in attendance were head women's lacrosse coach John Battaglino
and senior defender Jenn Primeau. Battaglino, who was last season's
national coach of the year, has guided the Great Danes to a 6-2 record
so far this season. Primeau, a two-time all-conference second team
selection, has tallied two assists and 12 groundball this year.
Also
in attendance was head baseball coach Jon Mueller and seniors Travis
Wilson and Pete DiResta. The Great Danes kick off America East
Conference play this coming weekend, visiting Hartford for a three-game
series. DiResta is one of the team's top hitters, having recorded a
team-best five doubles and three home runs. Wilson earned the win on the
mound in a 9-4 victory over Massachusetts on Sunday.
Joining
the festivities were also head track and field coach Roberto Vives, who
is looking to lead his squads to America East Championships again this
spring. First-year tennis coach Gordon Graham and two of his top players
also spoke, as the Great Danes are gearing up for their America East
Championship competition.
