New York, N.Y. - Sherez Mohamed reeled in a top school performance in the 500 meter event Saturday afternoon at the Millrose Collegiate Invitational. The women's squad went on to finish fifth out of 15 scoring teams, while the men's team garnered a fourth place finish out of 20 teams. The men's distance medley team of Chris Burke, Paul Lagno, Peter Rowell, and Jonathan Santana competed in the 105th Millrose Games to place fourth overall clocking in at 9:49.90.
The men's team was highlighted by four IC4A qualifying marks in the 800 meter, mile and shot put events. Nick Santos finished the 800 meter in 1:54.46 for second place overall. Chris Buchanan and Alex Leuchanka grabbed two mile qualifying times of 4:10.46 (2nd) and 4:13.84 (6th), respectively. John Rudd bettered his shot put throw by two feet and two inches for a 47 foot and 8 inch toss, taking fifth place.
With a 1:12.55 time in the 500 meter run, Mohamed notches her second school record of the season and ECAC qualifying mark. She surpassed the 2007 record set by Adanna Andrews by nearly two seconds (1:14.53). Jonelle White also grabbed a post-season mark with a 2:12.09 800 meter run. White placed second in the event. In the mile run, Miranda McConnell clocked it at 5:04 to place third overall.
The squads will return to competition February 17th and 18th for the America East Conference Championship hosted by Boston University.
