Albany, N.Y. - Sophomore Kathryn Fanning led the University at Albany women's cross country team to their second straight fifth-place finish at the America East Conference Championship held on the University Campus Course course Saturday morning. The Great Danes had three top-20 finishers on the 5,000-meter course.
Stony Brook, took the program's fifth straight team title by finishing 16 points ahead of Boston University and University of New Hampshire, who tied for second-place with 56 points. The Seawolves' Hayley Green claimed the individual title, finishing in 16:51.59, only three seconds away from the course record time.
Fanning, UAlbany's top-finisher ran her season-best 5K to clock in at 17:44.85 to place 13th. Teammate Emily Finnegan came in next at 17:50.46 to take 14th place; also Finnegan's season-best mark. Melissa Del Rosario (18:07.06, 20th), Brianne Bellon (18:08.00, 21st), and Miranda McConnell (18:23.23, 30th) completed the team's top five.
The Great Dane harriers will return to action on November 12th for the NCAA Northeast Regional race held in Amherst, N.Y.
