DeLallo’s opened the indoor season running the mile at Penn State’s Nittany Lion Challenge, where he placed fourth overall in 4:10.85. He also led off the men’s distance medley relay, recording a 1,200m split of 3:05 en route to a second place team finish of 10:28.22. He won the 1,000m at the Armory Track Invitational in a season-best time of 2:25.16. He also placed sixth in the 800m in a season-best 1:52.37. His season-best in the mile came at Boston University’s Valentine Invitational, where he placed 29th in 4:06.68. At the America East Indoor Championships, DeLallo once again led off the men’s distance medley relay, splitting 3:02.0 for 1,200m. The team placed second in 9:50.58. Later in the meet, DeLallo won the 1,000m in 2:25.76. It would ultimately be his final race as a Great Dane.
DeLallo competed in five of six meets during the cross country season. He set a personal-best mark in the 8K at Lehigh’s Paul Short Invitational, placing 110th with a time of 25:19.6.
DeLallo opened the outdoor season at the Spring Break Classic, placing first in the 1,500m in 3:54.58, and fifth in the 800m in 1:55.24. At the Texas Relays, DeLallo split 1:51.7 in the 4x800m relay that finished sixth, and led off the distance medley relay in 2:59.5. He won the 1,500m at the Dogfight against Connecticut in 4:00.45, and placed second in the 800m in 1:56.85. He set a season-best in the 1,500m at the UAlbany Spring Classic, winning the race in a hand-timed 3:53.9. At Penn Relays, DeLallo competed on the 4x800m relay, which placed fourth in the college section, and the distance medley relay, which placed eighth in the college section. He split 1:50.37 and 3:02.65 respectively. DeLallo qualified third in the 800m at America East Outdoor Championships in 1:53.93, and finished third in the finals in 1:51.51. He also earned a fourth place finish as a member of the 4x800m relay. In his last meet of the season, UAlbany’s Purple & Gold Last Chance Meet, DeLallo set a new personal record in the 800m, matching his Penn Relays split in 1:50.37 to win the race.
Following an injury-shortened cross country season, DeLallo opened the indoor season winning the mile at the Penn State Indoor Relays in 4:14.82. He also placed third on UAlbany’s 4x800m relay team. At the UAlbany Great Dane Classic, DeLallo won the 800m in a season-best 1:52.64, and placed fourth in the 1,000m in 2:27.13. He ran the mile at the Columbia Invitational, placing 12th in a new personal-best of 4:10.52. He was a member of the winning 4x800m relay team at the Armory Collegiate Invitational, and placed seventh in the 1,000m with a season-best time of 2:25.82. At the America East Indoor Championships, DeLallo placed third in the 1,000m in 2:28.35, second in the mile in 4:11.20, and second as a member of the distance medley relay team, splitting 1:50 for the 800m leg. DeLallo split 1:50.3 in the 800m leg of the distance medley relay at IC4A Championships, en route to a UAlbany second-place finish. Additionally, DeLallo set a new personal-best in the preliminary round of the mile at the same meet, qualifying third in 4:08.80. In the finals, DeLallo set another personal-best, finishing third overall in 4:06.09.
DeLallo opened the season with a career-best for 8K, running 26:17.1 for 17th place at the America East Pre-Conference meet. He competed two more times during the cross country season, running 26:25.9 at UAlbany’s XC Invitational, and 27:25.8 at the America East Championships.
DeLallo competed almost exclusively in the 1,500m during the outdoor season, but also competed in the 800m in two early meets. In the first meet of the season he ran a new personal-best for the 800m, crossing the line in 1:53.23. Two meets later, he improved his personal-best once again, this time running 1:52.36, winning the event at the Upstate Track & Field Classic. DeLallo performed admirably in the America East Outdoor Championships, qualifying fifth for finals in the 1,500m and finishing in fifth place overall. He also was a member of the winning 4x800m relay team. A week later, at IC4A’s, DeLallo competed in the 1,500m once again, qualifying for finals in third and finishing in 11th place overall. His fastest time of the year in the 1,500m came at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Invitational, where he finished seventh. DeLallo additionally was a member of UAlbany’s 4x800m relay team that competed at Penn Relays.
DeLallo kicked off a very successful indoor campaign with consecutive second place finishes in the mile at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge and the UAlbany Great Dane Classic, the latter at which he ran his best mile time of his career. He added a fourth place finish in the mile at the America East Indoor Championships, where he also finished first overall in the 1,000m. After competing on the UAlbany 4x800m relay team at the Millrose Games, DeLallo ended his indoor season on a high note, finishing second overall in the 1,000m at IC4A’s, setting a new personal-best.
DeLallo competed in four meets during his second cross country season. His best finish came at the UAlbany XC Invitational, where he placed ninth and ran his fastest time of the season.
DeLallo best performance came at the Capital District Classic, where he placed first in the 1,500m and third in the 800m. He qualified 12th for finals in the 1,500m at the America East Outdoor Championships, where he ran his second-best time of the season and finished 12th overall. His season ended with a 15th place finish at IC4A’s as a member of UAlbany’s 4x800m relay team.
DeLallo ran his fastest 800m of his freshman indoor campaign in a 16th place effort at the Great Dane Classic. He placed second as a member of the 4x800m relay and third in the 1,000m at America East Indoor Championships, running his best time of the season. He competed one final time in the 1,000m at IC4A’s, finishing 16th overall.
DeLallo competed in three races as a freshman for UAlbany. He placed 35th at the 6K Monmouth XC Kickoff, running 20:16.2. In the next meet, Iona’s Meet of Champions, DeLallo placed 122nd, running his fastest 8K of the year at 27:40.18. His final race was the 8K at IC4A’s, where he finished 143rd.

DeLallo was a three-year letter-winner, senior captain, and member of National Honor Society at West Genesee. He was an All-Section selection in 2010.
John Stephan DeLallo is the son of Nick and Lynda DeLallo. He has two brothers, Pat and Mike, and two sisters, Ruth and Katie. He plans to major in physics.
