West Hartford, Conn. - Milton Burton scored 17 points in leading Hartford to a 62-42 America East Conference victory over UAlbany on Sunday, Jan. 9 at Chase Arena. The Hawks have won three in a row overall and four of five home games this season.
     Hartford (5-10, AE 2-0) led 45-35 midway through the second half, but then put the game away with 10 unanswered. Ryan Baker scored with an offensive rebound after Joe Zeglinski missed a three-pointer. Burton drilled one of his five 3-pointers, before Morgan Sabia nailed a long-range shot from the top of the arc.
     "We struggled against their 1-3-1 zone," said UAlbany coach Will Brown, whose team has dropped five of the last six contests in this series. "But we have taken a step backwards offensively the last two games. When you hold a team to 33-percent shooting in the first half and are down thirteen then it's directly related to your offensive woes."
     The Hawks leaped to a 13-4 lead at the start behind the three-point shooting of Burton, who made his first three attempts from beyond the arc. UAlbany (8-10, AE 1-2) later ripped off eight straight to close the gap to 16-15 on Mike Black's three-pointer. Black, a sophomore guard, finished with 10 points.
     Genesis Maciel, a 6-foot-9 junior, then keyed a string of 10 unanswered points. Maciel, who had 10 of his 12 points in the period, hit a reverse layup and made a jumper from the right baseline. He capped the outburst with a three-point field goal as a trailer in transition. Hartford was still ahead, 28-21, late in the period, but pushed the lead to 13 by the break when Baker sank a triple from the right wing and Maciel canned another from the left corner.
     Zeglinski added 10 points for the Hawks, who made 12-of-36 from three-point range. UAlbany's Logan Aronhalt led his team with 17 points. The Great Danes shot just 34.8 percent from the floor and committed 17 turnovers en route to their lowest scoring total of the season.

Paw Prints:  UAlbany shot less than 40 percent from the field for this sixth time this season ... the Great Danes have dropped four of their last five starts ... Hartford swept last year's season series and has won five of the last six meetings between the programs ... the Hawks were picked sixth in the America East preseason poll ... Logan Aronhalt has scored in double figures in 13 of 18 games this season ... Tim Ambrose had his 17-game, double-figure streak halted ... Ambrose was the last America East player to score in twin figures in every game this season ... Hartford will host the America East Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, presented by Newman's Own, Inc., for the second consecutive year in March.
